Control lock retention?

I have the factory control stick lock and I’m curious as to its retention when not in use. I’m sure it is not meant to just hang when not in use. Is it held under dash with something I’m not seeing? If you have a picture that would be fantastic, Thanks!

It just swings all the way forward and is held in place by friction. Mine stays put, I even forget I have it.

Is this what the retention looks like? If it is what is the clip attached to? I found the part # and it is associated with the pictured part. Thanks.

I don't have anything to hold it. I did find this drawing: https://www.supercubproject.com/drawings/pdfs/A3290204.pdf The 1" radius at the end would match up to the tubing of the lock.
I can't find any reference to it in the PA-18 parts manual.

I have one also just push it under the panel and it says there

Snug the attach bolts down enough to give needed friction to stay put where you want it

The control lock retention clip was attached to the header tank clamp.

I haven't flown a PA-18 for years, but the PA-18As i flew and all the new ones I ferried from Lock Haven in the Seventies had a retention clip under the panel.
