COLORADO CUB: 3D Modeling & Printing Service for Builders

For those of you out there that are on the experimental side of Experimental, I am pleased to unveil a service I have been perfecting for a number of years now.

COLORADO CUB is a design & prototype service for builders of experimental aircraft

  • We talk through the component you need; how/where/why it will be used and what constraints you are working within
  • I draw, 3D print, then ship the plastic part to you
  • If the component fits we can then CNC that part in a material of your choosing, or can continue to iterate on your idea

I understand this is a niche service and is best suited for the more experimental builders out there, however I can not stress how much time and money this process has saved me over the years. Iterating on your ideas in cheap plastic before cutting an expensive 4130/6061/POM part can be a real game changer. What would you build for your bird if you didn't have to learn CAD or the details of 3D printing & CNC?

Visit www.ColoradoCub.com or email me at dave AT ColoradoCub.com

Every part you will see on site (and many more...) has been through years of abuse on my ugly-but-beautiful experimental Cub.

Super cool stuff man! I work in NX everyday for CNC programming, 3D printing is the freaking future!

I am just barely competent on the CAM side, but I will admit to spending weeks of my life optimizing tool paths in F360 for trivial projects.

It is such a waste of time yet so much fun, almost like trying to win at Tetris or something. Except, I never win and just watch a virtual tool whip around the screen in hopes of shaving off a few seconds here or there. :D

Ya, our programming department literally chases seconds of path optimization all day lol. I’ve never done anything in F360 but your models look good.
