He is full forward on the stick. I can't figure out if he is trying to raise the tailwheel or just help in the dive? Either way, it is an impressive video!

I think it's to keep the tail from bangin on the edge

I would think its for getting off without stalling the wing ,i gess it would not be fun to get off that cliff with a wing dropping down on you lookin at it and its would be below stall speed.
