Cleveland 40-75B or 75D

Hi,

I'm installing the Airframes Inc 3" extended heavy duty (1 1/2" axle) gear, and have no information on which wheels to install. I have some Cleveland 40-75B's, some 1/8" spacers to go under the disk, and some 40-75D's. Looking at the Cleveland parts book they are the same wheel except for the disk. Lining them up, the disks are the same thickness and diameter, but the disk flange on the 75D's is about 1/4" wider, placing the disk 1/4" more inboard. Seems like I would want to do this because I'm installing either Gar Aero or 8.50 tires?

I believe the brakes I have are -52N's

So has anyone been through the same exercise and figured out which 1 1/2 wheels and disks to install on the Airframes axle. Can I use either, and just adjust the axle spacer supplied with the gear leg?

Is an STC or 337 required, or is it assumed that this is part of the gear STC?

According to "The Book" that is a different wheel and disk, use the 75D wheel it is a legal install.

Hi Wup, I went through the Cleveland parts catalog, and all the part numbers of the wheel components except the disk are the same. The wheels themselves have a different part number (-B and -D) so are technically different wheels. What makes one a legal install and the other not? And do I need someone's STC? Don

We worked with Atlee to get the STC so get ahold of Steve and he can fix you up with the STC and it does call out the 40-75D wheel and the 30-52N brake specifically.
