I need to replace the battery in my experimental cubby and want to save my money for fuel. my present Concord battery is sealed and fairly small aproximatley 5x7x8 Dont know much about batteries and charging etc. Want to stay on the cheap but dont want to overcharge the wrong type of battery or get in any trouble. Thanks

Lawn tractor battery about $40 I have used them for years and they work better then the gills and other aviation batteries, last longer and have better cranking power.

Will they handle a charge ok off of my charging system? I've heard there are certain types that wont. But have no knowledge.

Thanks

Try the Powersonic line of batteries. I have the 12180 NB in my 180hp RV-8 and it does a great job. Only weighs 13 lbs and costs about $50. Did I mentioned it is a sealed gel cell battery. Do a google search and you will find dozens of places to order.

They charge the same as a car battery and like N808VR said you can get them in gel cell, I had one from Bi Mart in my C-185 with a IO520 and it worked fine, COST $29.95

PS what part of Oregon are you in?

What do you consider cheap? And how often would you have to buy a battery anyway?

I could replace mine for 300 bucks, but if I found one for closer to 100 I could fly more this month. 50 is even better. I'm on a tight budget. And I dont know a thing about batteries. The one I'm replacing lasted 3 years - I plan on taking better care of this one.

Odyssey PC625 about 85 to 90 bucks. I shop for batteries at www.batterymart.com but there are plenty of sources. I'm going to look into the other ones suggested above as I'm a tightwad.
