I cleaned and inspected my carb heat box yesterday and noticed that the bushings at the "flap shaft" are worn. There's a play of about 1/8" at each side so I guess it's time to do something about it...
Do I have to buy one of those carb heat repair kits? I mean, if it's just the bushings I might as well make them myself, from bronze or brass I guess. I could even put ball bearings for less cost than for a repair kit.
Or are there other benefits with a repair kit that I don't see?...
And how about the air filter? Is it a good idea to change the original type for the Brackett type?
By the way, it's a C90-8F with the standard Continental heat box.
