I spent 3 hrs watching Ranch Pilot videos yesterday. WOW......If those videos dont make you want to pull prop, then I dont know what will. Very inspriational.

Why do AOPA and FLYIN mags consistently show jets in the clouds, the new mooney in a hangar, etc.. when they could put a couple shots from ranch pilot's videos in there and really make a great mag?
Are Ranch's pic prices higher than G5 and Mooney? This topic might have already been discussed, but I couldnt find it.

Is it possible to put a few paragraphs in the supercub.org calendar and recieve it on a monthly basis?
Thank you,
joey

Those magazines show pictures of "jets in the clouds, the new mooney in a hangar, etc" because those magazines are only in print because of advertising revenue. Subscriptions don't even come close to paying to publish a magazine.....as in nowhere near it.

So, do you suppose that Gulfstream has a little bigger advertising budget than say....Atlee Dodge?? Advertising revenue is the ONLY thing that keeps these magazines in business, even AOPA Pilot, which is a stand alone, produced by AOPA, but it pays its own bills.

And, by the way, you are aware that AOPA does offer two versions of Pilot Magazine, right???? They offer a "Turbine Pilot" version, with all the jets,, etc, OR you can elect a non turbine pilot version....which has all the content EXCEPT the turbine pilot articles. Even has a different cover, etc.

Just so they don't upset your sensibilities....8)

But, bottom line....advertising revenue keeps this world turning....ask the guy who runs this web site about advertising revenue, by the way.

Hey thanks, Bayou. Glad you like my stuff! I make the videos purely for my own enjoyment--I get twice as much fun per gallon that way.;-) I got to do a lot of flying this summer to a lot of fun places, and I've been blown away to learn that people all over the world have enjoyed coming along for the ride. I'm currently in predator control mode, which means lots of great flying but not so many videos. Stay tuned, though, and I'll churn out some more whenever the spirit moves. In the meantime, I post all my general flying nonsense at www.facebook.com/ranchpilot777 if you want to check that out.

In terms of the "cost" of purchasing my images or videos for magazine use, I'd gladly make videos on commission for the cost of the whiskey consumed during the editing process. So far nobody has taken me up on it--apparently recognizing how high a price that would be!

Thanks for the reply Ranch. Please keep up the vids until I can afford a G5. I'll be happy to make a whiskey donnation if your running low.

Joey

Ranch Pilot and others, I haven't seen Ranch Pilots photos but it sounds like I need to do so. If Ranch Pilot would be kind enough to let me know what type whiskey we are are drinking, I'll bring the booze and help him edit. I'm a Crown guy. Give me a call at 713-816-0927. Bayou Navigator, we are trying to do just what you are asking for. Ask and you shall receive. Follow Tophand's directions.
n4Off, As many readers know, I ALWAYS have a 1911 and a AR.
Merry Christmas to all.

... why not looking for a G650 ?

Sheesh. That'll teach me to not check SC.org for a day or two over the holidays. That's OK--I've always figured when those guys from Utah start talking bad about you, you're probably doing something right. Don't ever let 'em buy you a drink or two though (or a bottle or two, as the case may be)...they'll never let you live it down.

I'm an equal opportunity guy, Shooter. Crown or Pendleton, I don't discriminate. When it comes to "top shelf," however, I buy from your neck of the woods--TX Whiskey is right at the top of my list. http://www.frdistilling.com/whiskeys/1 My good buddy BTV from Amarillo is considering setting up an import/export business, just for me.

As for Wyoming Whiskey, I and all my friends waited for it with eager anticipation, Randy. Unfortunately, the the original run was still really green when they took it out of the cask. I believe future batches will get better with time, but the first one damn sure had some hair on it.

In terms of images, I've never considered myself any kind of photographer but every now and then, as Ansel Adams once said, "I do get to places just when God's ready to have somebody click the shutter."

At risk of oversharing, here are some of my favorites from the past couple years.

Very nice pics. I like the one with the fog in the valley.....no, the one with the water skiing....no, the one with the single rock formation......hell with it, I'm going flying.

Ranch Pilot,
Fantastic photography. How may I contact you other that this forum?

Thanks, Shooter. PM sent, and I'll look forward to raising a glass with you sometime.

This is also a standing invite to the rest of you--let me know if you're ever passing through southwest Wyoming and we'll go make some pictures together.

Nicely done my friend!!! But don't you have a picture of another PA-12 (lady) pilot in front of Rushmore?? Or was that someone else?

Great pictures. The geology of that region is fascinating. I've often wondered what happened over the millions of years. In particular the sedimentary layers which are now at rather sharp angles. There just has to have been some major upheavals at some point or points in time.
