Autopilot for Roberston Stol 185

Update.

Garmin has a freshly minted STC for the GFC500 install in a Robertson STOL equipped 185.
They will be producing and offering the bellcrank adapter bracket like STEC does but it is not yet available.

But you can now have a GFC500 installed under an STC rather than a letter of no technical objection.

Dealer memo coming out shortly.

Is a letter of no technical objection enough for approved data?
Bob I’m sure others can explain it better, but the NTO letter opens the door for a shop to install one using other means of approval. (Because it didn’t have an STC alfor the approval).

I don’t think there are many cases that use a NTO but I’ve seen at least two from Garmin over the years. But I really don’t know.

We installed one on a 185 a year or so ago using the NTO. I believe that requires a DAR but I wasn’t involved with the sign off.

I guess it's not exactly fresh news,
but I just saw this article in my daily GA News feed about the Garmin A/P being approved for 180/185 with R/STOL.
