Looked at a javron with this setup recently.

All my pa-18 time is my stock 1950

Does that stuff get you anything or is it a “if aint broke dont fix it” situation?

Gary is correct!! Ya, it would get me a lot! You on the other hand it would help very little. You just posted that you almost always fly with only fuel and yourself. You are flying runway to runway if I am correct (I think I remember your first post) So no it won't help you because you don't know if anything is broke or not. when you find a mission your Cub or Cessna can't do after you have a lot more seat time then that is when you need to look at more training when that is done then carefully look at mods You already have a very easy and forgiving plane to fly. None of this weight off the nose, lightweight battery, or special tail spring will really make it fly better. THAT IS THE PILOTS JOB!!!! Throwing parts and money at a plane will not make you a better or safer pilot, once you understand your plane and what you want to do you will know the answer to your questions. Plan to fly your cub up here and visit it for a few times next summer, we can do some flying and you can then understand the world that the mods have a impact on. I am kind of being rough but you have asked the same question several times and the answer is always it depends on the mission and a LOT of other factors. Take what you have and fly it empty/full/full forward and aft CG/do some long cross country/camping trips with a passenger. Most all cubs no matter what the mod fly fine. The pilot skill is most always the weak point.

What they are saying is true, but, if you like working on your plane, like I do, Go for it!!

Let us know how it worked for you!

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Im just curious if it makes for a worse flying plane than the original
Maybe not worse but different. How different? Adding weight and surface area can increase drag. Drag can eat fuel and diminish range. Getting paid to haul max loads into and out of minimum spaces over short distances? Every mph slower it lands and sooner it takes off can be profitable. Have to maneuver lots to conduct low level surveys? Don't reduce the ability to fly safely, or add a surprise stall or eliminate proven control response at minimums.

I believe the stock PA-18 is hard to beat overall. Need more GW? Add the STC's that allow that but not the weight of more heavy mods. Think light. Add VG's. Spend $ on gas.

Mine is NOT a cub - but this might be pertinent to this conversation.
The stock SuperStol comes with a flat tail like a cub, so when I flew the factory plane the tail would "stall" first when very slow, causing the slatted wing to mush and decent rate to increase, and speed to increase and the tail had more authority - and that was how they liked it, very docile stall characteristics. I added a symmetrical airfoil to the horizontal stab to give it more authority, to achieve higher aoa when slow (below 30) and thus slower level flight. Works great! and is faster in cruise. BUT is very different from the original to land. Like BC12 said - "not worse but different".
