I'm in Murfreesboro.... but will be spending most of the summer in Alaska. If we can stay in touch we could get together next fall when I return. I get over to Knoxville fairly often to visit family.

My step son and his wife are in Knoxville. We are considering moving to TN, but it seems real estate is almost as expensive as in MD. Would like to find something on an airport if possible that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg!

Hensley Airpark, 04TN, is the only place in East TN that has homes and homesites for sale. Google it for info on what is available. It's just south of Greeneville, TN (KGCY)

I bet the cost of living is less though. My folks live in Germantown, TN that is just outside of Memphis.

I live in Knoxville. Great place overall, fantastic place to raise kids. Seymour Airpark is very close by, with a nice grass strip but I don't know if they have any homes or hangars available now. It was possible to build a new hangar there several years ago. Check out the Sky Ranch airport, it's a club owned grass strip near downtown Knoxville with privately owned hangars. Hangars are hard to get at KDKX (near downtown also) and TacAir at KTYS (the major hub south of town.) Look at the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge airport. Look at Deerfield resort north of Knoxville. It is on the lake. Nice homes, good airport. There are few things in life better than to hop into a SuperCub and fly over East Tennessee on a nice VFR day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgIEh-SoECA
