I would like to know if there is an experienced helio courier mechanic for a pre buy in the south east? Thanks in advance.

Check with JAARS in Waxhaw, NC. Formerly big Helio operators, and may have some people on staff who could do a pre-buy on a weekend or after work.

There was a broker specializing in Helios in northern South Carolina, possibly at Donaldson or Spartanburg Exec. Can't recall the company name, but if it occurs to me I'll pm you.

Larry Montgomery was the broker for Helio's in Spartenberg for 30 years. Unfortunately he has passed away.

Jars had a large fleet of H-295 helios and developed many good mods and STC's for them.
They have people that really know the Helio.
Jarrs number is 707 834-6100

With all of the Helio's it is VERY VERY important that you have some one that knows Helio's and is very familiar with the AD's to preform a buyers inspection.

I ran H-250's H295's and H-395's for a long time. Fantastic planes but they have some issues that are very different from Cessnas and Beavers. Also get some dual with a pilot that has lots of helio time if you have not already done that.

Good luck I hope you have as much fun flying Helios as I did.

Thanks guys.I am hoping to get a look at it next weekend, and then if i like what i see i will want a pre buy.It is a 395 with fairly low time.It is supposed to be in great condition with no major damage history.Jason, the plane maybe closer to you then i previously thought. If i get a good feeling,i will contact you. From my research, the 395 looks like a good model. What is the concensus on the h-395? Any advice will be appreciated. From what i can figure, the 395 and 295 are the more desirable models. The 395 seems to perform the best, but i beleive the 295 has a bigger usefull load. That is not all that important,as i will be keeping the 185.The facts i think i know, may not be correct. Please advise.

All H-395'5 after serial number 541 are eligible for the 3800 pound gross weight kit. All H-250 and h295 are eligible for the 3800 grows weight kit.
Years ago I was able to get a lower serial 395 field approved for the 3800 lb up gross kit with the help of Clarance Brent the STC holder. Clarance has long ago passed away and sold the STC to Larry Montgomery who also has passed away. I do not know who owns the STC now.

You are corect the H-395 with the GO-480 is the best preforming of the piston Helios.

There are big pit falls buying a Helio if you do not have a very experienced helio mechanic do a buyers inspection. in the South East JARRS is the best bet to find a good helio mechanic as they used to own over 60 helios at one time.

I have owned a few 395's and personally know the history of quite a few. Drop me a line with the serial number and I will try to get the history for you.
