Hey all, it's me, the guy with corrosion issues. I made another lovely find the other day on my recently purchased cub that had me scratching my head and thanking the airplane gods that I didn't crash the plane and end up flying through the front windshield.
I discovered that, in the process of the previous owner installing grove master cylinders, he must have discovered that they didn't fit with the seat installed so he decided to cut the angular support rods off the seat to make it fit over the brakes. This was a little disheartening to discover. I do not plan to fly with a structurally unsound seat so I'm going to weld new tubes on it but that then leaves me with the whole, not fitting over the brakes issue. Does anyone have these grove brake pedals and know of a good way to install them? I noticed from another thread, a forum user posted pictures of his install and they were much closer to the stick torque tube and angled with the front end pointed inward where mine are much farther away from the torque tube and perfectly parallel with the airframe. Is this something that can be moved when I take the floor boards out?
My brakes:
What I think they are supposed to look like? (I forget the user who shared these pictures but if you are here, thank you!):
