BCB,
IMHO, those 30' high powerlines at the end have shortened your strip bigtime. I don't care if you aim for the second 450', you still can't get it in as short as dragging it in on a 450' ft strip. It's an unstabilized approach. The only way is to do as discussed, get slow w/ a high decent rate and add power to break it and have enough elevator authority for a flare. But that is not going to be a consistent short landing compared to an unobstructed drag it in.
I'm not saying it's not doable, or I wouldn't give it a try, but to do it on a regular basis, I'd find a way to get rid of those powerlines.
There's no shame in those go-arounds, good decision making. You know what feels smart for you better than anyone else.
Regards
Chris

Nuther choice

Nobody has said anything about landing under the powerlines. Is there a high fence under the lines? If there is no fence or one 4 to 5 feet high it's still possible to slot under the lines. Landing under lines is not as hard as it sounds, the main point of concertration is the ground or fence, not the wires, DO NOT look at the wires. What is the height of a SC with a tail low atitude?

You can clear a slot in an otherwise non functional fence or hedgerow under the wires, should that be necessary.

I say keep it at the airport.

Reason Being:

Since you are overseas, if you wreck it, and need to rebuild it, it will cost 2-3 times more than what it costs to fix it in the U.S.
