6" extended gear

Just got some of the material for the wing spars and will be working on the wings in the next couple weeks. I'll post some pixs when it gets underway.

I asked Mr. Barrows before I bought the plans about prop clearance and he believes there is adequate clearance as designed. I ask about flaps and he says they are not needed since the plane lands at 30 mph and he thinks 100 hp is plenty and it probably is at 2k DA on wheels. I ask Mark at Avipro for power on and power off stall speeds and I never get a response. It's my belief he wants no mods to his designs which is fine and I respect his desires which is why I changed the name...so I'm building an experimental "cub like" plane that will have a gross weight of 1319 pounds. The wing among other things is the reason I chose this route and not a straight Cub.

BTW, I still have a set of Carlson CUB spars for sale if anyone needs them in this area.

what is your cabane vee like? it could be modified to provide the "right" geometry to give 6inch gear no mechanical advantage over a stock length gear as far as the loads the bungees see.

Dave Are you saying to lower the cabane so the angle is stright or no angle at rest? Maybe 4" lower ? also that would be less drag???Ron.

My cabane was a custom job by atlee my stance is wider than a cub would have to take measurements to get exact numbers, I'm trying to avoid getting any wider, seems like youd have to change axle angle to get same gear width as cub with the 6 " gear mod
