337 For Using CC Fuel System on 160hp SC with 24 Gal Tanks

I am looking for some help. Does anyone have a 337 that addresses the installation of the Cub Crafters fuel system on a 160hp SC with 24 gal tanks? CC wrote the fuel system STC for the 180hp SC to be vague about the tanks allowed but the fuel STC for the 160hp SC specifically says for use only with 18 gal tanks. Vera at CC said that they know they need to update the STC but it is not a current priority and they do not have a reference 337 to offer ... she suggested I find one here. I would appreciate any help you can give ... I am looking for a copy of an approved 337 to attach to my 337. Thanks

337

I believe we received a variance/337 for the 180hp Cub with the 24 gallon tanks and headerless system. I will check the books and get another post/PM together. I assume your tanks are the Dakota Cub like mine and have the forward outlets.

337 For Using CC Fuel System on 160hp SC With 24 Gal Tanks

Yes, I have the Dakota wings with their 24 gal tanks. Using the CC fuel STC for the 180hp SC seems to not be a problem since the CC STC for the 180hp version is vague about which tanks are installed. Only the lower hp model is a problem since CC worded the STC for the 160hp fuel STC to specifically require 18 gal tanks. Thanks for your interest.

I think Crash has a CC headerless fuel system and Dakota Cub tanks. Maybe he can send you a copy of his paperwork.

24 gal tanks

Talked to Vera at CC, she assured me STC would be modified prior to this summer when we would be back together. I was a little disappointed that Dakota Cub didn't mention anything about this when we got new wings and tanks.

Yes, CC warned me that they hadn't completed the circle to "fix" their STC. Of course Mark Erickson feels that CC should make the paper work match. I have the Dakota wings with the 24 gal tanks and am intent on building up the plane with the headerless system...period. I am looking for an example 337 to make the field approval easier but may have to develop it from scratch. ' just thought someone out there had already faced this problem.

and how many of their "top cubs" went out with dakota tanks in them with out a legal "stc" or did they get 337's and a field approval for each one. seems strange?

They were working on designing their own tanks when I talked to Jim at OSH. If the Feds had any sense they should sign off on it or at the most make you do a flow test. Steve of Steve's Aircraft (Steve's Gascolator) could tell you how to do that to meet their criteria. Good luck and keep us posted.

Big tanks with both selector

Hello, new to the list but I have been following along once and a while. Putting together a Cub with the following mods. Airframes wide fuselage, Dakota extended wings and large tanks. CC fuel system without headers, wolf door, 150hp planning to upgrade to 180 after a while. engine tilt, 3" gear. extended flaps, under seat battery. brake boosters and interav alternator. Stits cover. My questions are: Has anyone figured out a way to combine the non header tank system with the Dakota tanks and wings. Also is there anyway to use EDO 2000 with the 2000lb gross kit.
In the current STC, Field approval status how difficult is the flip up left window to approve? This was a previously started project that I walked into so we are behind in the paperwork game. Charlie Gay
