I have a 1980 PA-18, fully restored including original seats. The seats have a low back, how soft cushioning etc but they are original. My intention is to remove these seats and put them in safe storage and upgrade with a new front and rear complete seat (frame, foam, upholstery etc).

My wife is spoiled with the seats in our ‘boring’ Cessna 182 but we both prefer flying in the ‘fun’ Cub. My wife and I fly a lot, touring outback Australia, and most of our flights can be up to four or five hours on a leg. A seat with a higher backrest for the front would be great and a passenger seat with a higher backrest and even better would be a headrest, would keep our marriage in harmony.

I have searched the depths of the internet and have found nothing that ticks these boxes. Open to any suggestions 😁

Why would you ditch the frames? There are plenty of great seat cusions out there. I can sit in my Super Cub with Oregon Aero seat cushions all day and not be sore and I have a boney butt.

I’m with Steve. I flew Cubs and Huskys (very similar seats) many days for eight hours Doing wildlife work. Mind you, that takes some getting used to, but those planes had Oregon Aero cushions, and they were great. OA has significantly raised their prices since “the troubles”, but they’re still the best out there.

The one mod done to at least one Cub seat I flew was the seat back was tilted aft a little, which made it much more comfortable.
