North East Winter Fun 21/22

Damn, I always seem to miss seeing these by like a day or two. Oh well not like I have skis and snows too deep for me anyway, lol.

Got off the ground a little too late you catch you guys! We flew over around 2:15 but it looked like everyone was heading to their planes.

When I was much younger, I got so I could re-do the recoil starters on those single cyl. Rotax's in my sleep. They were steady work. LOL

Glen, is that about a 1967 Olympic??? 14 /16 hp?

Earle it's registered as a 69. My neighbor where I flew into the snowgo weenie roast last March has a couple Sno travelers

Ole girl is ready to go, last time I had it out in a foot of fluff I hit a hidden ant mound and broke the right steering tie rod, when the ski spun around the steering arm blew a hole in my cowl that I fixed. No beauty queen but ready to go again. Let it snow!

Looks pretty good for for an original 53 years old

I like to let experienced riders who haven't ridden anything older then a 1972 sled take it for a spin. Always good for a laugh

Looks like you're ready for all this snow supposed to be coming in Sunday or Monday! I'm going to get the Maule out today, need to adjust the mixture for the colder weather and get the oil warm enough for an oil change.

Looks like you had more fun then me, I about froze my fingers off safety wiring my oil filter on and then when I went to start up and do a leak check, my battery solenoid decided it wasn’t going to work!

On a different note, how’s it work with landing on the lakes over there with wheels? Does the snow not get very deep on top of the ice from wind? Do the guys with wheels usually follow someone in with skis or something? I’m curious because I don’t have skis and really like the idea of some more places to land in the winter time.

We had 4" of icy base and then a foot on top. Not a lot but off trail riding is great right now

Are ski-planes (or snowmobiles) allowed on Saddleback Lake in Maine?

We are considering flying up Saturday and going cross country skiing on the adjacent Rangeley Lakes Trails Center.

-20F this morning at 6am, even the pups turned around and wanted back in. Judy mumbled something about being crazier than a privy rat as I suited up to go out chasing shadows. Checked with a couple ice fisherman on four lakes in the area all between 12 and 16 inches of ice with 10" of fluffy snow. Shadows.jpg
