Thread: Landing before displaced thresholds?

    Seems like displaced threshholds are usually done to insure clearance above terrains, trees, roads etc.
    But I think the threshhold at Seiku WA 11S was displaced due to pavement damage.
    That way they didn't have to repair it, or maintain it.

    I doubt they’d use a displaced threshold for pavement damage. You CAN use a displaced threshold for takeoff. But stranger things have happened.

    I didn't say the turn-off was before the threshold line. I just said I had stopped before the threshold. I landed on 31 and then taxied up to turn off on Alpha. The controller was just having some fun. Don't overthink it!!

    It seems I misunderstood the tower instruction "disregard the usable portion of the runway and make your first left". Didn't see how you could both disregard it and use it.
