What am I looking at?
On the outermost inspection panel of both wings it appears a rib was removed and there is a beam of some sort in its place.
This is a 1950 pa-18 13 rib
I circled where the rib looks like it used to go.
Plane has gross weight increase from 1500 to 1750- not sure if it is for that?
Whats that beam thing all about?

That’s just the tail of a nose rib that someone got a little aggressive about folding down. Fly on…

What is a nose rub?
It's a partial rib which is only behind the leading edge in front of the spar to stiffen the leading edge skin placed between adjacent full sized ribs. Generally used to stiffen the leading edge in order to enable higher design dive speeds (Vd).
