Our 1949 PA14 is officially “done”. Finally got it weighed yesterday and we were very happy with the number. 1096 lbs empty officially into the log books. Couple weeks back we got our certified aluminum struts from Alaska, was told we got the very first set for PA14s, 3rd set total to come out for the 12s/14s, and based on the serial numbers on ours, this would indicate accurate. We saved around 13.5 lbs compared to our originals. Got some photos attached from our central North Dakota fly in pancake breakfast below. Dads identical paint scheme matching PA18 is behind the 14. Had enough yellow paint from the 18 build so decided to save some money and use it on the 14. I’ll get some pics of the interior shortly, but we are excited to get some hours on it.
0320 narrow deck, aluminum struts, skytech starter, aero classics, carbon fiber floors , light weight battery, basic panel. Ceconite 102. Still need to get a light weight alternator figured out and a few small items, but bottom goal is 1090-1092 on this bird. Scale pic shows 1100 flat and we took off 4 lbs of wood on the scale we had when we leveled it. Tip of the hat to my dad at 67 years old, another nice build out of Nodak. Wife and I had our first little one in early March, pretty cool to Get to see him grow up with airplanes like I did. Picture of him with grandpas Supercub. Cheers fellas!
