Trick for jacking a Maule with wide gear.

Hi Guys, just changed tires on a M-7 that has wide gear. It had 29” bush wheels on it and put a set of 8.50-6’s. The gear is powder coated and I didn’t want to scratch it. Pulled the fairing down and put a burls trible jack up on two 12-12” wood blocks. Before jacking I placed 4”-4’x4’ foam sheets under the firewall and added small pieces as it went up just in case. Then the plane was ona bit of an angle so I let quite a bit of air out of te other bush tire and supported the weight with the jack. Still wish I had a crane to lift it on the float rings. Worked very good, no damage and very low risk.

I made a jack pad like a spring gear Cessna and put some soft rubber sheet in it. Works on X and NX Cubs a s well.
