Can a windshield be plastic welded?

I have a mostly horizontal crack in the windshield about 8" long and 3" from the top from a bird strike. Is there a plastic welding or chemical bonding process that works? It's not in the normal line of sight but it would be nice to fix it and polish out the repair.

Weld-on #16. This is like water. Tape to protect the surrounding good plexi. Try to push open the crack from the inside while you put this in from the outside in the open crack to get good penetration. Close the gap immediately, it sets up quickly. I don't think you can polish it out enough not to see it, but it will certainly hold. Don't spill any where you don't want it. Get the small tube, it will last a lifetime. I've glued together some big pieces with this, it's strong.
