It's time to start planning to attend the annual Johnson Creek Fly in. Come early, stay late to enjoy the area, and then attend the Missouri Breaks Fly in the following week. We will get a count a of those attending as the date gets closer. The Corner Pub in Yellow Pine will again be catering the Friday and Saturday evening meals.

Some years, music is provided.

We have had a big snow year, the mountains will still have snow, the nights may be chilly, plan ahead.

The Round Engine Roundup in Idaho Falls is on those same dates. On Saturday, June 17th, we will have a fly-out to Smiley Creek. Just a suggestion that any of you could fly over and ogle the Staggerwings and other round-engine aircraft.

I'll see you at the Round Up, Hank!

Hi Mike, my Travel Air is still down for an engine. Been at the overhauler for 18 months! I’ll be flying the Jungmeister which, from a distance, looks like it has a round engine.

Anybody know what’s going on at JC today with the caretaker/shower house. Webcam shows it parked out by the flagpole. ?????

The caretaker/shower house was put in place without footings. The structure has developed frost heaves. It has been moved to build proper footings. The original two showers are still available.

Folks
It has come to my attention that large groups (us) are expected to provide their own firewood at JC. Therefore, a cord has been ordered and we will need your help to see that anyone using our groups cord is encouraged to make a donation. There will be a donation bucket by the wood as in the past.
Also, please respond here, and to a survey coming shortly, that you plan to attend.
Sorry for the last minute request.
Thanks
Lou

Be aware of helicopter ops between Landmark and Pistol Creek this weekend.

(paraphrasing): "Beginning Friday AM and continuing through Saturday, Archer Construction (Montana) will be sling loading and transporting via helicopter loads of construction materials at the landmark airport to Pistol Creek. ...They will be moving 38K lbs of materials in 25 +/- loads over the two days. Their interest in letting IAA know this was to advise any/all who may be attending the Johnson Creek Fly In of the helicopter activities between Landmark and Pistol Creek."

Landmark Pirep:

"...the contractor told [IAA] that Landmark airport was unflyable for fixed wing due to many saplings growing up through the runway. ... We might want to get a notice out and see if anyone is going that way (after Saturday) and could take a look."

I've heard over the radio of planes going in and out of Landmark, so this may be limited to one area of the runway at Landmark. In any case, be aware, and if you land there, please submit a Pirep.

Just a heads up for those planning to attend the JC Flyin:
Presently there is a forecast for a mix of rain and snow beginning late Saturday evening thru Tuesday afternoon with ceilings of 3500-5000 AGL throughout. I’ll be watching it closely with an exit plan if necessary. We still plan to offer dinner Friday and Saturday nights as planned, subject to change.
Hoping for the best!
Lou
