    SKI/WHEEL Fly-in Near KORB in Orr, MN 12-17-22

    Just like last year, SHORT notice, but I hope to see you there! We are having our 2nd Annual ski fly-in on Moose Lake, near Orr, MN (KORB). The lake is located 5NM northwest of KORB which is just east of Pelican Lake. Please note that the landing area will be on the ice and will be subject to Mother Nature. The ice conditions are looking favorable with good ice already and I will continually post updates as I'm able. I will also attach a flyer that has the physical address for those of you that would like to drive in and the coordinates for those of you that would like to fly. We will have snacks and drinks in the cabin. I hope to see as many of you there as we can!

    Extended forecast looks like only a couple inches of snow. That could make this a wheel or ski fly in. Please update us on local conditions as we get closer.

    Watched the weather tonight looks like a pretty good winter system arriving mid week. If things play out as they forecast I predict a ski only fly in. I’m sure Patrick or Bill will update prior to Saturday.

    Just got a call from Bill. Due to an impending storm the 2nd annual Moose Lake Fly In is cancelled. I’m told it will be rescheduled in the spring.

    I was just testing my 185 after installing skis and got a nice dose gusts and freezing rain on the leading edge of it.. welcome to winter, I hope to make it next year.

    Hey guys,
    What are the issues with flying/landing in such cold territory (MN)?
    How difficult/expensive is it to change from wheels to skis?
    Sounds like big winter fun!

    Most in this area go from floats to wheels to skis. Straight skis are an easy install from wheels once they have been rigged and installed prior. Takes at most an hour. Once the weather gets cold usually the air flow from the front is restricted as well as the air passing through the oil cooler. Hope this helps.
