FAA GA Survey Notices

I receive these in the mail every year for each aircraft I have registered. I was wondering if the FAA sends these out to every registered aircraft owner or just a sampling, and how many people actually fill these out and return them. Also interested to hear why people do or don't. Mine go right in the trash.

I send them in if I have lots of hours to report, but not if I'm light. Numerator over denominator. It might help them allocate or defend dollars.

Interesting possibility, I Had never thought of it that way.

It is easier to justify spending dollars if you have some hard data. We are doing the 20 year plan for Birchwood. When it came time to talk about how many takeoff/landings we have a year it was noted that the 123.0 transmissions had been recorded over the past year and then put into a computer algorithm with transponder information to figure out traffic load backed up by on site counting by other personnel. I could have made a killing on tin foil that day!!

Annually annoyed by these but usually fill them out after the second batch arrive in the mail to make them stop coming. This year was a different form “Fleet Owners” which was easier as allowed me to record all three aircraft on one form, thought that would be the end of it but still got separate forms for each aircraft so that strategy did not work.

I only get them for the non-operating aircraft. I have three registered and flying; they never ask about those. It says "voluntary" and you know what they say about volunteering.
