    Shooting Asteroids

They did it. Great video, particularly in the moments prior to impact. The images are spectacular!

Yeah, that is just incredible that our physicists and engineers can design something that can hit such a small target 7 million miles away at an approach speed of 14,000 mph. I know it's all just math, but damn! Very well done.

Like lots of things it may take more than one hit on a real danger. We'll see what the orbit does after this.

Only if the scientists were not Marines.

I would be more impressed if they had a crosswind.

A spacecraft hitting an asteroid 6-1/2 million miles away and traveling 14,000 mph is an achievement. The interesting part is this smaller asteroid is orbiting a larger one. The experiment is to see if they can alter the orbit time and ultimately how that might affect the larger asteroid’s path. It’ll take 2 months of tracking to find out. This display of incredible human intelligence is sadly overshadowed in the news by the daily display of incredible human stupidity. I choose to celebrate the scientists.
