Yeah, that is just incredible that our physicists and engineers can design something that can hit such a small target 7 million miles away at an approach speed of 14,000 mph. I know it's all just math, but damn! Very well done.
A spacecraft hitting an asteroid 6-1/2 million miles away and traveling 14,000 mph is an achievement. The interesting part is this smaller asteroid is orbiting a larger one. The experiment is to see if they can alter the orbit time and ultimately how that might affect the larger asteroid’s path. It’ll take 2 months of tracking to find out. This display of incredible human intelligence is sadly overshadowed in the news by the daily display of incredible human stupidity. I choose to celebrate the scientists.
