    Cabane Vee

    hey guys,
I have a 18-125 that was upgraded to the higher gross weight via borer STC. The stc says to ream the fuselage fitting to 5/16. Problem is the HD atlee V hits the fuselage before the holes line up. I was wondering if the univair is smaller on the top? I have another V but dont know if it's HD or not, it is the same as the HD. I looked up 30602-007 the cabane v in the piper drawings, on supercubdrawings and northland but it appears to be the smaller J3 1/4" bolts. Does anyone have the bigger V drawing? I'm curious to see if that will fit.

I had the same problem when I rebuilt the J3. I ended up adding some clearance by grinding away the middle of the strap on the cabane (indicated in green & I.A.W. Atlee Dodge verbal instructions) When they wrecked the airplane the cabane snapped at the center but the ends at the fuselage were fine. Ripped the gear clean off the fuselage...

Interesting, thanks. They said 20 thousands is all they would feel comfortable with. The more I look at the gear fittings, the more home made they look

I have never had an issue with it fitting the fuselage, just had to flex it to line up. SNOWBALL

It actually hits the cross tube between the longerons preventing it from going deep enough for it to line up. I've only seen it on a J3 and only with the atlee cabane.
