Greenville Maine Seaplane Fly in

Scouter

SPONSOR
Exeter Maine
Its this coming weekend, actuallly starts Thurs evening. Ive been going to this one for a long time and cant remember a better looking weather forcast. Right now looks like 7 days of sunny skies and light winds. If you ever thought about coming this is the year to do it. Bring a tent the place has been sold out for months.
Some highlights for me:

A really special visitor is on his way in from Sandpoint

Douten has his new cub finished and is in the takeoff contest. Amy is pulling a sword from the stone, and is prepared to show him the old ways
Glenn is loaded up the old J4 with cheese and ready to roll. Except you dont see him until night, when he comes to town to get Tom Ford hammered
Speaking of Tom Ford, will we see you coming up the amphib ramp this year?

If anyone wants to we could arrange a SuperCub.org lunch on Fri or Sat.

Hope to see you there

Jim

Your very likely to see unusual things just before the T/O contests: Warm up techniques including these to limber up........Screenshot_20220907-052135.pngScreenshot_20220907-052216.png

Headed that way with my sister (my guardian angel) in the back seat. We did Mackinac Island, a REALLY neat place and met up with another Supercub.org guy there.

Eric Holstrom and Susan are also on their way. We then did Put In Bay, and we are now trying to fight the weather further East. Once we get to Maine, we are looking forward to seeing Jim, Douten and all the other "cool kids" from the NE.

Mark Fiedler will be coming in commercial. Lots of great SC.org folks are going to be there.

Maybe I’ll give the ramp a practice run first. My dad is the one who has to watch out for Glenn. He might still be hung over from 2013. I think that’s why he’s only coming for the day sat.

That is absolutely the easiest ramp to taxi up that you will ever encounter. A little too narrow for an Albatross but great for most everything else.

I’ll be there. Husky on amphibian floats camping at the wheeled airport.

All ready to head up in the morning Plan to meet Bill in the air and go to Jims before going into Greenville. Looking to be a fun weekend. It sounds like the ramp will have a few amphibs and a lot of the shore tail ins are gone as they have moved some docks around back of the hanger.

Have fun....send lots of Pictures and Videos for those of us who can't make it......I can't wait to see how you're new bird does Douten!

Dan,The plane is a lot more capable than the fat old pilot is but will try anyway, Hate to give Glenn any more Ammo about getting beat by a girl, again.

This is the bay that the floatplanes operate out of. Cool place.

The outside of the building looks pretty rough. It is right across the street from the bay.

But this is our room. Pretty sweet. My sister with her morning coffee.

Wip made this really nice banner for my Cub. And I must say I do love the Wip floats. Love the large lockers, flat tops, and I’ve only had to sail back once because they handle great on the water.

I am not very good at posting from my phone. I will fix the attachment when I get my laptop out.

Great fun being here at Greenville.

Bill

Nice. Only been once and that was a loooong time ago. On the list to get back there!

For anyone that is wondering how results of Greenville came out: Here is the low down;
2022 T/O contests all washed out are: In the lite weight class, 100 HP class of floatplanes, a certain newly built PA-11 was the plane to beat....... However it proved to be unbeatable and infact Douten's new "Cub Special" moped em all up, with his new Bird. Congrats to him.
Of course there can only be one Champion in a T/O contest and the competition was fierce for the most watched catagory: 150/200hp Seaplane: The top float flyers in the country were in attendence for sure! Hot rod machines from Legend Cub, Carbon Cub and Javron were
all represented well this year. And when the smoke all cleared: Our very own IMG_20220909_173241694_BURST000_COVER_TOP.jpgJim Crane came with his A- Game to win it ALL. It came down to best out of 2/3 against last year's winner Dan Dufault; However Jim certainly left no doubt that he was 'in it to win it' and he and his airplane were untouchable this year. So the man that really does more for promoting aviation in Maine; made his way to "the top of the mountain". Big congrats to him for an outstanding job this year!
And a certain Green/ White M7 Maule, still keeps the hot dog Cessna boys inline. Terrific performance's from Tommy Dunn, Brad Libby, and Keith Strange kept the crowd on the edge of their seats, showing what these hopped up Skywagons can do with pros at the helm!
Really great Seaplane Fly In for 2022, super weather, and one of the best ever.
E
