Stolen King Air 90 - Mississippi

Sounds like the mechanic stole the airplane this morning.

    https://flightaware.com/live/flight/N342ER

The flight before this one on flightaware was him also....they said he mentioned crashing it into walmart....

    Tupelo Airport is closed...

At most probably about three hours of fuel at those altitudes and speeds..... hes been at it for about 2.5 as of now....

Always refreshing to see a mechanic/bag handler/ground personnel cutting loose and chasing their dreams...

No, coming up on 21 years since 9-11 and still come out of the cockpit to pee with grandma 'blocking' the door (if they really cared there would be crew only bathroom access with never coming out - or a double door system) - this will fade and no bike locks will be needed (I hope). Not a knock on 'senior' FA's either - my wife is one, and officially a grandma 5 days ago . But them stopping a terrorist from charging the door is a joke.

Hopefully this kid (29 year old fueler ?) gets some help (and some jail time).

I turned on the Sirius sat radio this morning, while cruising south at 7 K, about an hour before he eventually landed (good job there, it still looked like an airplane anyway) and listened to the live coverage. The first thing I did was look down and see if I was over a Wal Mart, nope. Some of the onlookers comments "we saw a low flying plane, so called the police," are a bit unsettling. I later saw several "aviation experts" throw gen av under the bus, re: security, while one guy went out of his way to make it clear to the media pundits that it was all good, "no more regs needed, thank you very much."

Seen in the news. Did you know they had King Airs in WW2?

"The Tupelo Police Department said it was notified around 5 am this morning that a pilot flying what a “King Air type” airplane...................."

Lol. And it was referred to, several times, as a 'small plane'.

"Small plane" is relative-- compared to a 747, a King Air is small
Kind of reminds me of four years ago--
a Horizon Air ground crew member stole one of their DHC Dash 8's from SeaTac & flew it around for about an hour.
He ended up dying when he intentionally crashed on a small island in south Puget Sound.

    Cessna Skywagon-- accept no substitute!

A KingAir looks pretty big to me. Lots of clocks on their panels
