Rain Aware App Question

Alaska guys in particular. Is yours working? Mine hasn't connected with the forecast for several months but I believe it still worked in TX last time I was there. Trying to figure out what's wrong. Maybe it's like MCS Mike's weather cams app. The FAA changed their camera programming and it broke Mike's app.

I can't speak for Rain Aware but there are changes a foot in some weather apps with Apples acquisition of Dark Sky API. Many weather apps will have to migrate to Apples WeatherKit API or migrate elsewhere. Sunset for Dark Sky is in 2023 as I recall. How seamless this change appears will vary between developers. FYI - Garmin inReach weather is uses Dark Sky's API.

Thanks. I have that app as well. I guess I'll need to get used to using it. It has all the info I want, just in a different layout.

I don't use it at all mainly because of the cost and the quirky interface. I use Dark Sky with my some of my own stuff just because I can customize the content to suit my needs and I never pay anything for it since I'm well under the "Free" account request limit. Dark Sky like all weather data has issues that you have to understand (or be frustrated by) in order to use it effectively. You live in a place that where you would not ever want to rely on the wind forecast by Dark Sky. For that I use Mesonet via text. Cryptic but it works great.

Like I said, who knows on the Rain Aware app but I bet there will be some noticeable fallout amongst weather app developers with Apple taking over this giant API. The IOS giant is finding some creative ways to milk the cow.

I don’t see anything good about apple taking over these apps.

And I typed this on my iPad, I use an iPhone and an iWatch.

I am seriously thinking about the Garmin D2 AirX even though I have a Dynon panel. The D2 has some amazing features, IF it played nice with ForeFlight I would have already had one
