    Spelling mistake or..,

So I am on my way out the gate from the ramp at Revelstoke airport in British Columbia and the sign says...The thing is Revelstoke is definitely a mountain town, lots of skiing, mountain biking and climbing.
So I figure an ice climber (piolet is a climbing tool) working for the municipality got asked to make the sign. By the looks of the UV degradation it's been there for a while. Revy is a great chill little town... Click image for larger version.

Are piolets the only ones able to decode and execute 2 & 4 and then 3?? Did that code actually open the gate?

Code did work. Of course I was a bit nervous since as a pilot I was not technically allowed to use it...

I just think it’s amazing they put the code on the sign.

At my airport you go through an initiation ritual and take an oath of secrecy.

I was somewhere up north and the 4 digit code was on the sign and
when I inquired I was told that the fence was for the critters not the
    peps.

There is definitely some truth to that. Often there are no fences around airports but the access to the terminal or the trailer intended to be one is coded with either the ATF or elt frequency.

Speaking of critters there is one back country strip I go into where the problem is porcupines feeding on rubber so there are lengths of chicken wire mesh to make fences around the tires... DON'T YOU BE TOUCHIN' MY BUSH WHEELS!!!
