North East Summer Fun 2022

It is with great sadness I pass along the news that our good friend, long time aviator and incredible aircraft restorer and one of my mentors Ron Jones yesterday lost his long time battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Ron was a friend to all who flew vintage aircraft. His door was always open and most phone calls lasted 30 min or more. Always ready to help out, especially those of us who had to rub nickels together to keep it going. A master craftsman at any thing he did. 3 best long wing piper awards at Sentimental Journey, a lindy at Oshkosh with a Tripacer. A&P IA DAR.
I owe a lot to Ron who was a helping friend for over 30 years. I bought my Pa11 from him 28 years ago and my ex18-0200 that I fly now.
You've earned your rest my friend it's been a couple tough years.
Blue skies and tailwinds my friend

Looking for a place to go on Saturday. Maybe Beaver River for lunch. Anyone know how the water level is on Stillwater?

I was on Stillwater yesterday, water is high for this time of year. Only down about 3'. It's perfect right now for stopping in Beaver River, middle pond and beach by dam

Nice celebration of a life well lived today. Was like a family reunion today but we all liked each other
Good time to remember a dear friend to us all

The birth of my Cub in 2000 from a bunch of J3 parts. Just something Ron threw together so he would have something to fly

Lost 4 great friends who all flew in last 9 months. I miss you all.

RIP my friends

Start the winter fun anytime now. Floats are coming off this week. Great summer but it’s over. Now wheels and skis.

Jim

Fords looking a little more STOLish now. He must be getting ready to make that short trip to Gainesville next month.;-)

I'll be changing over in a couple weeks after the moose hunt also Have a winter project repairing and covering a set of cub wings so don't know about skis.

Your old 11 will go on skis quick and you don’t even have to pull floats. But you’ll be stuck in the slow lane again.

Well Glenn I don't know if this falls under NE winter fun but looks like I have some stuff to do this winter instead of flying 82H. Should be ready to sell come springtime if anyone is interested.
