Our new season is starting off on a very sad note. Our beloved Island Bob died today from complications from a stroke. Those of you who were lucky enough to meet him will never be the same. End of an era.
I loved ya buddy
Bob was a great friend with a larger than life personality. He will not only be missed by me but all those who were blessed to know the infamous “Island Bob”
Glenn,
This is heartbreaking news. I always looked forward to my trips "up North" because it meant we could all sit around and be entertained by Bob. He had a "no holds barred" view of life. He will be missed.
Blue Skies and Tailwinds my Friend.
Lou
How sad. My wife and I were married on The Island thanks to the graciousness of Bob and Pat. We were planning a June visit.
His passing is a profound loss to our community. He will be sorely missed.
Godspeed Island Bob, RIP
I only got to meet him the one time for lunch during the WAD, yet I can easily picture the 'larger than life' man. Just looking in his hangar told me all I needed to know about him.
He will be missed, and our community will feel the loss.
Just as the service ended our friend Tyson who keeps his L4 in Bob's hangar did a east to west low pass while wearing Bob's HUGE sunglasses and his flight jacket.
