People tend to buy one or the other and have no experience with the one they DIDN'T buy.
All I can say is that I like my Firmin.

The older airglas were much smaller than the firman. And with how the hinge was attached on the airglas sucked. It didn’t swing all the way down before hitting.
Love my firman. Hardly ever use it but it’s nice when you need it. Welded tabs on my fuselage when I rebuilt.

Is one heavier than the other, or does one hold more volume/weight than the other?
Britishcubbloke, I have the LC18XL. its 21.5 Lbs installed, has a Max baggage weight of 175Lbs. Don't have the dimensions handy, though I have heard the Firmin is a little bigger. I agree with NanavutPA-12, which ever one has is probably a fan. However I will say I am impartial to the whole thing. For me when I decided it was time to get a pod and started looking for one the LC18XL was immediately available. This may not be the case today. For me at the time, it was what was available, easy and no hassle. I bought it and it was installed a couple days later. I guess what I'm saying is, what is the cost/wait time for either? I don't think you can go wrong with either one, just get one. I would never not have a pod. Definitely don't buy one of the older, smaller pods.
Bob also sells an extra large bush pod/Firmin pod that isn’t STC’d. About 2 inches deeper and a larger door. Has anyone obtained a field approval for this one to get it legal on a certified cub?
Have owned same cub for 38 years!!!

I am pretty sure the only planes that have them are the experimental aircraft!

How much does the Firmin pod weight compared to the Airglass carbon fiber pod?
I see this thread is still up. In the interest of "how big are they" I took some measurements from my LC18XL pod. I do not see the door dimensions listed on Airglas' website so I used a tape measure to get those numbers.
LC18XL
86" long
24" wide
13" deep
side door is 33.5" long, 9.75"(front) tapering to 8"(backside)
rear door 11.25 wide, 9.5 high
weight installed 21.5LBS
max load capability 175LBS
From Airframes AK website on the Firmin AK bush pod:
Firmin Alaska Bush Pod
84" long
24" wide
14" deep
side door is 29" long, 10" high
rear door is 14" wide, 8" high
weight installed 25LBS
max weight capacity 150LBS
For the good of the group, can anyone provide the dimensions of the EXP (bigger) AK bush pod?
