Lou and Bob, thanks for being instigators for this event. I'm planning to attend, but Girlscout is unlikely this year, hope I don't scare too many off:

ONE person for dinner (that's 'supper' where I come from) both Friday, 6.17.22, and Saturday, 6.18.22, plus the firewood donation.

Likely banging around the backcountry for a few days, ending up at Missouri Breaks, also. These plans a little dependent on other aviation projects in the background.

    Thanks. cubscout

Are there showers there? I assume bathrooms? What do we do for four days? Nearest eats at Yellowpine or BYOF?

    Kid,

There is plenty to do there, 80+ backcountry strips in a 2 hour radius, lots of great folks to fly around with. You can bring your own food or fly out to multiple breakfast/lunch/dinner sites. It's really up to you...

Make sure you read the proper procedures' for approach and landing at JC, it's important.

Current gas prices and a fear of ticks almost made me almost decide not to go. However, it's over 35 years since I landed on a grass runway and I ought to do it at least once more.

    One aircraft (FX-3 Carbon Cub)
    One person
    All meals

    Thanks for organizing.

Is dinner generally done in time to fly out before dark if staying at a different strip?

Dinner is at 6pm both nights. Sunset is 9:30pm. Hope that gives you enough time to fly out.

    Ted,

I tallied approximately 33 based on the responses. It may be more or less than that. We are planning on flying the Carbon Cub arriving Thursday.

I'm seeing about a 45 kt tail wind on the way up but having to stay at least until Monday for reasonable winds to get back South. Assuming one can get out of there to go South. It's a lot easier to figure out the weather for in state trips. Local AvGas supplier expects to run out tomorrow. Hope the stops en-route have gas or it could be a long trip.

Have more details on the Av gas supplier? Is this an isolated incident or a nationwide issue?

I suspect FBOs with the lower gas prices might be the ones being without gas for awhile because of the run on gas and the wait for the next load of fuel. I used AirNav to get Great Deals prices and called FBOs on that list. Most say they will be getting a new load of fuel in the next few days so that Great Deal won't last long. Be ready to spend lots of bucks.

Retailer is Sibran at KDVT. An email to those signed up for pre-pay discount advised that Phoenix wholesaler had no supply but more expected in a few days. Sibran was far from being the lowest price in the area.

I don't know who supplies this wholesaler or what area is impacted. I assume this is currently only a Phoenix area issue but could be a sign of things to come.

I ended up not making it. Tried to drive there and hit deep snow at 6000 feet on Lick Creek. Didn’t check because I’ve often gotten over in early June.

Well heck, had charging problem in Jerome. Great service from Precision Aviation, but going to skip JC, head back home. Windy today, as others have noted.

Yes indeed, what is called a "wind event" I believe, not just the usual wind. Says the guy with a wind electric turbine that self furls to protect itself in over 28 mph winds, which its been doing most of the day. Quartering tailwind for my strip also. So unflyable, for my light bird anyway, I don't even has to make a decision, it's been made for me. Like gethomeitis, gethereitis is a real thing.
