The J4 has a similar manual

I will be converting these to a PDF with the parts manual pages. Because it's not drag and drop to add photos, it will be easier to just create a PDF and upload it once.

That would be great. The local EAA chapter is rebuilding a J-5 and the pdfs would be very helpful.

    Thank you,

This has nothing to do with a J5, but I have a set of Wag Aero 2+2 plans and need to get about 5 of the 24 pages scanned. I am working on modeling the aircraft in Solidworks using the WA plans, as well as from the pa-14 drawings, and work with three monitors--so it would be easier to have the relevant drawings in digital form on one monitor. Basically, a PDF. I've been trying to find a business around here that still has a scanner capable of handling a 24x36" print, and it seems impossible anymore! I've had a couple of them tell me their scanner broke in the past couple of years, and it's too expensive to replace it given that they don't get much call for large-document scanning. Bummer. I can see why though--the cheapest scanner I've found that will handle 24" documents is like $2700!

Guess I'll need to scan them with a smaller scanner somehow, and "stitch" the PDFs together. There must be some software out there to handle that sort of a task--anyone know of a solution?

    Thanks.

    There are several options.

Scan the print in sections on a typical flatbed scanner. Scan to a .jpg file format, or even better, to a .tif format as it won’t compress the image. Then just about any image editing software should allow you to tile them together….Adobe Photoshop, etc. I use a screen capture program called Snagit that has an editor that would easily do it.

Another option would be to find someone with a high end camera like a Sony a7Riv. This camera has a 61 MP sensor so would give you almost 300 dpi resolution. A copy stand would help the effort. Your local high end camera store may have the ability to do this for you or recommend someone that could.

Or send your print to these guys. https://smoothsolutions.com/services...rmat-scanning/

I just Googled large format scanning services.

    Hope this helps.

Excellent tips, thank you! I know exactly what you mean, so I'll give that a shot.

I figured there would be something available in a larger city, yes...

We moved from Green Bay to Stevens Point last year, and I believe there is also at least one place in Green Bay that will still scan large documents. But that's a 240-mile round trip for us, so I was trying to find an easier solution since I only need a fraction of the documents scanned. But it's great to know there are solutions available, so thanks for providing the link!
