Been to Africa hunting, hoping to return again one day.
Nice Musk Ox!

Ice has been out week, Red lake did not disappoint. Dad caught his share and enjoyed the rare good weather we seem to be getting.

Showing fresh Walleye fillets is cruel and unusual punishment. Just add some fresh cheese curds and breaded deep fried onion rings to finish us off.

any pireps on a drop camp or semi-guided one for elk, looking to take my son's
Deer season is knocking at the door wrapping up a good fall for birds in North Dakota and my MN. backyard. Pheasant numbers were good, lots of young birds, late or 2nd hatch. SD I hear is ok as well.

Litecub and I had a fun hunt on Kodiak for Blacktails but as he mentioned there was significantly fewer deer where we hunted compared to other years.
Elk season in Montana was open when I returned and I'd planned to use my trusty .338 Federal for elk. After missing a 200 yard shot on a bull, I found it was shooting off and think it probably got bumped at the floatplane base on our return from deer hunting. So the next day I hunted with a 6.5 Creedmoor loaded with 130 gr. Accubonds. Luck was with me and I slipped a bullet into the ribs at 180 yards. He was mostly facing away from me and there was a narrow window to hit without ruining some meat. The accurate Creedmoor did its part and the bull never took a step.
I had some fun fishing trips this summer in Montana and Idaho and caught hundreds of cutthroats on dry flies. Many with my buddy Larry from Oregon.

MN Whitetail season is over for us. Went right from fall to bitter winter these past few days. Had a great time and freezer is full.

Something different. A trip to Europe with a little hunting in Spain and France.Wet first day hunting Cantabrian chamois with the game tenders
Now to France for Pyrenees chamois. This is limestone and it erodes vertically, like scary steep!
Ten year old buck the last hour of the hunt after passing on a young one the first afternoon.
Nephew got his first rooster this weekend.
Was a trooper up and down the hills given the 23 degrees and 23 mph winds.
Husqvarna, Sweden rifle imported in US by tradewinds back in the 50s-60s. .270 Winchester shooting Federal 150 grain blue box power shok, essentially Federals Core Lokt version of Remington line. I have other rifles but this one is special. Belonged to a great friend now passed.

I spoke with family down in Indiana, and my 101 year old (WW2 vet) Dad got a whitetail doe with his muzzle loading rifle. I'd post the photo, but it's really not "internet worthy". My brother is a poor photographer. He hunted but didn't get anything last year when he was 100. The year before he got two.

That is so great! Really special.
