Unknown prop

One of my buddies just picked up this prop from a farm shed.
It's 8 ft. long and obviously old.
Anyone have a clue what it might be from?

I think it's real. I believe Hamilton and Standard were once two different companies. Hamilton was out of Wisconsin (I think) and then maybe they merged into the Hamilton Standard we know today....

From my very limited research I get the impression that Standard Aircraft and Standard Steel Propeller were not the same company. It was Standard Steel Propeller that combined with Hamilton.

Look for stamp marks or lettering near the hub?

Your buddie's prop is a slightly different shape from the one on this Standard J-1 airplane.

Thanks for the wooden props site Grant..........a guy on there said he couldn't be sure but high probability it was from a Standard J1 with the Hall Scott engine but similar to
a JN4 prop with OX5 engine. The hub dimensions are different 6" vs. 5 1/4".
