Hi All,
I am building a experimental PA-11. I started with what I thought was a J-3 basket case. It turns out that I have a bunch of miscellaneous parts, with no paper work, the fuselage is a J-3 in very good shape, it had been in a fixture and and repaired. Whoever repaired the fuselage did a good job but they striped everting off of it including gear fittings, wing fittings, pulley brackets, turtle deck, fairlead fittings. I borrowed a good fuselage that was in the flood of 1972 in Lock Haven it is rusted bad but is all there so I have been copying it, I also have a set of Wag Aero drawings. All and all the project is going well. Because I am going experimental I decided to power it with an O-320 150HP and I am adding the reinforcing details per the Wag Aero drawings for engines over 125HP. I have ordered PA-11 wings (no Flaps) from Javron and a super cub cowling and boot cow.
I do have have the fuselage about 90% complete new parts fit and welded in place, tail feathers remade/repaired and fit in place. The tail feathers are from a J-3, My question is will the J-3 tail feathers be adequate with the 150 HP engine?
Thanks for any thoughts and ideas
Gary
