    Javron PA-12

Finished this Javron PA-12 experimental this last spring. Have 45 hrs on it and it is really a great airplane. ECI O-360, 3" extended gear, Acme Black Ops suspension, T-3 tailwheel, Performance air fowler flaps, square tip wing, 84/44 McCauley prop, 26" Goodyears, Swing up doors, extended baggage and more. 2300lb gross weight 1233lb empty. Performs exactly like a Supercub but a lot more comfortable with wider cockpit and legroom. With the Performance Air flaps i can drop it in exactly where I want. Great airplane and will be for sale soon as owner lodt medical.

I understand the weight limit is going to increase rather dramatically soon for operations as a Sport Pilot. Rumor has it it could happen as soon as Oshkosh 2022. This would be well within the limit I am hearing about.

Did the match the AOI on this to match the wing AOI on a PA-18?

Yes it did. I built a Javron PA-18 last year and both airplanes have identical engines and empty weight is within a few pounds. They fly identically as i have flown them back to back. I would take this airplane any day over a PA 18 as it has a really comfortable cockpit. If I do another one the only change I would make is todo the aileron cables like a Supercub and get rid of all the monkey motion of the 12. With all the pulleys and changes in direction on the 12 the ailerons are noticeably heavier.

A few years ago I asked Jay if he’d adjust a -12 to PA-18 AOI. He said no. I probably would have bought one if he did. These days a local Alaska guy is building 3-place Supercub airframes.

Beautiful workmanship. I really like the simple panel design. The removable breaker panel is invaluable for saving backbreaking labor behind the panel.

Leaving the final paint design to a new owner is a smart idea. The paint scheme is such an individualized decision that can ease or obstruct a sale.

What do you expect it should bring? I’m still struggling to correctly price my 12 replica.

Where is the plane located? I would like to compare our two airplanes side by side.

You’re spot on with pricing. We need more exp. PA12 owners to start pricing our planes closer to what they actually cost to build and that reflects their outstanding performance and comfort.

I'm in Twin Falls, Idaho. Flew it to Idaho City, ID this morning. With two 240lb guys off in around 200ft with no flaps and not really trying and climb 800fpm at 70-75. Cruise is right at 105 true 2550rpm 10gph. I really like the cockpit as it is even wider than a widebody Cub. Has more leg room and the instrument panel is a couple inches above my legs. In a Supercub the instrument panel is almost touching my legs. One thing I will talk to Jay about is making the aileron control cables like a Super Cub and get rid of all the pulleys and monkey motion of the 12. It would make the ailerons a lot lighter.

When we decided to sell it I told the owner we should leave it white and let the new owner pick his graphics. I have done the last three Cubs in vinyl and it looks as good as paint and is as durable. Here are a couple I did in vinyl.
