Dakota Cub nose rib at the N brace

Folks
I'm having a bit of bother getting my head round how the Dakota Cub nose rib at the N brace is 'Modified' to fit at the lower spar cap around the forward strut attach fitting and spacer,
Any photos or leads to a drawing would be most welcome - thanks
Frank

It is a different rib. It is notched at the strut attach fitting instead of having the strut fitting going over it like a Piper rib. Not sure if I have a picture, the wings just got covered. Gets screwed to the spar cap face like the other ribs from what I remember.

Thank you Steve,

The nose rib set as supplied by D C did not include two that were notched so I notched one, as in the photo, to fit in the same position as the original Piper part. This put the bottom of this D C nose rib on the spar exactly where the spar and the strut fitting intersect so there is no cap strip exposed to screw it to.

Should I reposition it further outboard where the cap strip is exposed?

I will, of course, have to get another nose rib and and notch it slighly higher - not a problem.

Thanks for your time

Frank

this is how Univair does it. I’d imagine Dakota is similar

I think you are right Tom, that kinda jogs my memory. Dakota Cub probably had a brain fart and forgot those ribs. Probably worth a phone call to verify.

I was wrong, called Brian at Dakota Cub and he texted me these pictures of a wing they are about to install leading edges on.

Thanks Steve

I'm obviously not the only one that has been caught by this one.

When you spoke with D C did they say if they supplied the nose ribs for that position with the 'cut out' already in them or was it for the customer to do it?

Thanks once again
Frank

Customer modifies.

Steve, I love the way you, one issue after another, pick up the phone and go straight to the source and get an answer that actually means something.

If I lived nearby, I would be bugging you to maintain my airplane!

Thanks John. When I first went out on my own in general aviation after spending most all of my career in the Warbird business I figured out that the vendors were for the most part very helpful when I had a question as are a lot of fellow mechanics. Back then my Rolodex was king but my cell phone contacts list has slowly taken over. It is amazing how many vendors I now call friends and the help we provide each other. I like to learn and have learned so much by just picking up the phone.
