    MGL/Sw V6 com RX issue

I had an old XCOM vhf that died (was dead when I bought the plane) and just replaced it with the MGL V6. I labeled the wires in the old harness so I wouldn’t mess up the wire install into the new pin connector.

V6 powers up and the RX bar shows full receiving and there is a steady fast beeping in the headsets. When I set a frequency and someone transmits on another radio it breaks the beeping and I receive just fine. When the transmission ends, right back to beeping.

When I try the PTT it stops the beeping and I hear what I assume is a gyro winding up.

It’s Saturday and MGLs not open and the local Avionics guys not around either.

    anyone got any ideas

    Thank you

Are you wired to an intercom or using the built in intercom? How many positions are you wired to?

2 places. Intercom was on a switch ON OFF and ISO. I’m thinking maybe that switch is my issue

Do you actually transmit on the com? Does the intercom function correctly?

    Solder connector or crimp?

I didn’t see if I was actually transmitting with another radio. I was focused first on getting rid of the RX beeping.

I wired the radio up on the bench to power and headset jacks and had no RX issues this morning with it out of the plane. I did not have a spare push to talk to try.

I’m using proper aircraft crimp connectors

I think next I’ll take the connector apart in the plane and re add pins 1 at time.

The beeping is a warning that there is a bad connection someplace. I asked about transmit or intercom problems because that can point you to the wires to check first.

If you check the radio on the bench, you do not need a push to talk switch. Simply touch the push to talk wire or jack tab to ground.

Beeping gone. I started checking the old harness and cleaned up some grounds. I also pulled all the wires out of the connector and re did it, slower lol

    the radio transmits and receives.

just need to get the PTT with no interference

Finally got some time to work on the cub again.

Was mic volume and Vogad/vox settings that was causing the squeal with PTT
