Walking Down Memory Lane...New Holstein Supercub.org Fly In Revisited

One of the things that occurs to me in early summer, when I am planning my flying adventures, is the people I will be likely to see at each event. For me, the New Holstein Supercub.org Fly In is high on my list, as I have met many, many awesome people there and they have become my closest friends. I have posted some photos from 2006 through 2010 on another thread (https://www.supercub.org/forum/show...erground-New-Holstein-Supercub-org-Flyin-News) and one photo that stands out to me is a primary example of what happens at New Holstein:



Here is Tim Allen introducing Jim Doody to Mike Sisemore, with Rick Papp and SJ looking on. Two New Yorkers, an Ohio Buckeye and a fellow from KC. Worlds apart, but brought together by this amazing group of people.

It isn't just about the airplanes, folks, it is about the people. Before I first flew to NH in 2006 I didn't know anyone there. I landed in a driving rainstorm and Kirby Crowe came out from his tent and helped me tie down, and the rest is history. You folks have made a huge difference in my life and I hope I have been able to make a difference in your lives, as well.

I realized the other day that you some of you guys would have been at New Holstein when my Dad took me there and to Oshkosh in 2011 in his 170. It was the trip of a lifetime and we both have fond memories of NH and the folks we met there. We spent a few days at New Holstein before we headed to Oshkosh.

I remember I found an airventure pass somewhere at NH and nobody claimed it so SJ (I think) ruled that it was finders keepers and I got in to Oshkosh free when we moved over there (I still have the wristband somewhere). I also got some of the worst sunburn of my life that week, Wisconsin sun and pale Alaskan 10 year olds don't mix!



(P.S. I look a whole lot different 10 years later and the supercub XING shirt is not even close to fitting)
