How big (tires) can I go with this existing set up?

My 1952 SC has the CubCrafters Master Brake Cylinder STC SA1245CE installed. And Cleveland wheels of some type based on the log books.

How big of tires can I use with this set up? Would it be worth it to start with the AeroClassic 22x8.5x6? Can I put some AB 26" or 29" with this set up or do I need to change the brakes/wheels? Fly in Northern Nevada.

Photos of the wheels and calipers:

Buy a set of 31”s and be done. The happier than happy mentality says that if you start off small you’ll always wonder about a size bigger. Less true when going big to small. It 35s are out of the question, 31s are the Swiss Army knife.

With your braking setup, no tire size is going to be an issue. Go with as big a tire as you like.

I agree with Kevin here, 31's offer the most benefit with the fewest drawbacks. Very much the best all-around off airport tire. If you're on pavement a lot then the tire choice will change.

Used 31s that you can rejuvenate may cost less than some of the smaller options. Airframes will probably sell you the paperwork to put the used Bushwheels on. You already have 8.50-6 Goodyears that are about 21 inches tall so I would scratch the Aero classics option.

Thanks Crash. That's the info I needed. I just didn't want to get all a-swoon over big tires and then realize I've got a bunch of expense in new wheels and brakes. I think I'll put 31s on for the summer when I can stay on dirt and the 8.50s back on for the winter -- all pavement.
