need actual sizes of disassembled J3

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me the actual measurements of a disassembled J3 (and is there a difference if it is a J3C-65?)?
I need to know the actual length of the wings from tip to the end of the spars, the fuselage without the engine mount and without tail.
Also, if there are some drawings available online with all these measurements it would be nice to know.

Possibly, just possibly taking on a basket J3 and thinking about how I can transport and store all these parts.

    Thank you in advance

If someone doesn't provide this info for you soon, I will be at a hangar in the next couple days where I can get those numbers for you. And will.

I once personally witnessed a J-3 loaded in the back of a Toyota Tacoma truck, with the front on top of the cab and tail out the back. The wings were draped over the sides and lashed on with rope. The engine was under the fuselage along with a whole bunch of parts. The load went from the docklands of NJ, right through NYC (over the GW) up the CT parkway and into New England.

Didn't get stopped once. A few curious drive bys by the Staties.

The truck was brand new. I understand the rental company was NOT happy when it was returned.

The wings for a J-3 from inner spar fitting to the tip bow is a couple inches under 18 ft. The fuselage minus eng. mount and rudder is a fraction of an inch under 18 ft.
