Is there a source for the fuselage aluminum stringers besides Univair? Mine are pretty ratty.

Hey Charlie, when I got my -12 back from Nick Smith he had welded little pieces of tube and had used electrical conduit for stringers. Looked like a good strong setup. Still haven’t covered it yet.

I used hat-type stringers, mounted similar to how Stinson did it. super-12.com. Steve has 'em, near Chehalis.

Hmm interesting, some kind of wood spar Cub clone? I ended up just buying Univair’s stringers. Prices weren’t and bad freight wasn’t as bad as I thought. Should’ve said it’s for a certified PA-18.

Just curious, what stringers did you use, and what was the weight penalty? I’m working on a PA-16 and need to replace my stringers.

I use the Hat sections that AC Spruce sells. It's the same as what is on the top/center of Pacer/Tri Pacer fuselage. Light weight and strong. Wood just almost never holds its shape.
