Partial thread drift...... What hooked me on Super Cubs was the book "Wager with the Wind" The Don Sheldon story. I was about 8 or 10. I didn't hurt that our next door neighbor was Big Game Guide Gary LaRose and he had Super Cubs for his business. He would always land in his farm field behind his house in the fall. I thought he could walk on water.... Mid, late 70's.

I've had "Wager with the wind" for 20 plus years. I re-read it every couple of years and wonder if Don Sheldon were around today would he need all those must have mods to do what he did. Just tossing a grenade in the mix. Flame away.

I just wonder how much more he could have done!

Emmerson Fittipaldi I believe it was got asked in an interview once about how he thought drivers from the 30's would fare in todays cars against todays drivers. His response was that they would do well, as good drivers will quickly adapt to what ever they are driving, and excel at the same level.

I would expect the same of pilots.
I don't know where you've been me lad, but I see you won first Prize!

Sadly, Super Cubs Hardcore is copyrighted material that somebody videoed and put on youtube a while back. We have sold these DVD's for years (much bretter quality that these youtubes)!

I talked with Jim Carkuff the producer a few years ago. I guess he decided not to pursue the copyright claim against the person who posted these

Don Sheldon didn't even need flaps. Did his best work in a Sedan.

I blame the Campbell Brothers of Millinocket for my Cub problem.

I was but a young lad of 12 or so, standing in my backyard on a fine winter day in Maine when one of the Campbell Brothers went low over the yard headed to Smith Pond on skis.

The J-3 was rattling away, fabric thrumming and snow-shoes on the struts. I was already nuts about aviation. But when that Cub went over that was it. I was completely hooked on a piece of antique machinery so wonderfully agile and as close to primitive flight as one could get.

Dreams delayed are denied. First chance I had I bought one. And life hasn't been the same since.
