Strobe light on PA18A -150 1959 model

My new plane only has nav lights and landing lights. Would it require an AD to install a strobe light on my Cub? I am just thinking it would be a smart move for a number of reasons.

Semantics first. I believe you mean an STC for installation, Not an AD (airworthiness directive).

Next, what are you looking to accomplish? Are you upgrading your aircraft or are you trying to increase safety? I.e., are you trying to be seen better,while in flight? Limited budget or the best system?

An anti-collision light is required for night flying in the US. Do you have a rotating beacon or flasher now? Suggest you look at 91.205, and AC20-30B.
