Flying Santa...Back Into Action!

Dear Boys and Girls, it has been a long year...

With all the lockdowns, Mrs. Claus and I have been seriously wondering if our elves have done all this work for nothing! To make it worse, there have been lockdowns galore, making it difficult to plan our pre-Christmas adventures! It wasn’t until just two days ago that we convened the Elves and weighed all the pros and cons and we decided to go Full Steam Ahead with the Santa Fly In! We felt that children in the United States of America have given up far too much this year, and that we should do all we can to continue the tradition of Santa Claus flying his Super Cub to bring gifts to these beautiful children.

Well, our elves outdid themselves this evening!

Here is Santa’s Super Cub...before the decorating fun began...

Notice how beautifully prepared Roger and Darin Meggers made my Super Cub?! New wings, bright new strobes...My, there will be some nice gifts in their stockings come Christmas Day!!! Ho, Ho, Ho!

We have fewer Elves helping this year, as we felt it best, given the circumstances...but these Elves did a great job, and I am going to go to bed tonight knowing that the preparations are all in order, the flight plan from the North Pole to Lino Airpark has been filed and all systems are GO!

I must apologize for not posting something here sooner, but I want to assure you that it hasn’t been because I haven’t been thinking about these flights...Ho, Ho, Ho, to the contrary, the Elves and Mrs. Claus and I have kept you all in our thoughts and prayers, hoping that All will be Calm, All will be Bright.

Ho, Ho, Ho, I've returned to the North Pole to supervise our terrific elves as they continue to prepare for my flight on Christmas Eve. I wanted to share some photos with you and to report that while attendance was down a bit, there were many, many children who attended the Santa Fly In's.

There were two Fly Ins this year, the first at Lino Airpark (MY18) near the Twin Cities. This airpark was the home for my very first Santa Fly In 12 years ago and it is likely to be a destination for many, many years to come! Gary and Karen Mann have kindly let us use their hangar in the past, and this year they let us use the area near their hangar to hold the event.











I spent the night in MN, flying off to New Ulm, MN (KULM) to a new venue for me. There I had the chance to see many children that hasn't seen a Santa Fly In, and even get a chance to see Doc Randy's grandchildren, little Annabelle (age 4) and Aiden (age 5 months). Ho, Ho, Ho, it was such a treat to see these kids!



The family above told me it is ok to let people know that Doc Randy helped 3 of their 4 children come into their family. What a treat to see them!

Below is a photo of little Annabelle shortly after I climbed out of the cockpit...she waited patiently as I loosened my seatbelts and grabbed my big bag of presents, but she bolted across the tarmac to give me a big, big hug! Oh, my heart!!!


It is my hope that next year there will be many other Flying Santa's who decorate their airplanes and gives children these wonderful experiences. I will be more than happy to certify you as "Official Santa Claus", point you toward some quality Santa suits and show you how to use green Frog tape to transform your airplane into Santa's airplane!
